SWBR and M/E Engineering are currently collaborating with Thompson Builds Inc. as design builders on renovations to multiple residence halls at Roberts Wesleyan University. First, a series of three identical two-story women's dormitories is slated for finish and furniture upgrades throughout the living and social spaces. Additionally, the central core of each building including laundry, kitchen, toilet and shower rooms will be gutted and reconfigured to accommodate ADA requirements as well as increased quantity of plumbing fixtures and a more generous lounge space.

Focusing on the more public spaces of the men’s dorms, outdated finishes are being upgraded and small kitchenettes are getting a face lift as well. The men’s dorms and one of the women’s dorms are slated for construction this summer with a planned completion for the Fall semester. Remaining dorm construction will occur the following summer.

The design-build team worked closely with the owner during design to ensure appropriate level of finishes and fixtures were being designed to fit within the owner’s budget and the level of quality would be consistent with the owner’s expectations. The design-build delivery method was the only way to produce a design and set of documents on the owner’s timeline.
